What is Subaru EyeSight?

 

 

Pre-Collision Braking

Pre-Collision Braking can help prevent rear ending the car ahead. As the car is in motion, EyeSight is constantly watching and gauging the distance to objects in it's field of view ahead. Should the car ahead suddenly slow down, EyeSight analyzes the closing speed, and will sound an alert and flash a visual warning if there is danger of a collision. If the driver doesn't hit the brakes, EyeSight will do it for you, applying the brakes automatically - bringing the car to a complete stop if necessary.

 

 

Pre-Collision Throttle Management

Pre-Collision Throttle Management can help you avoid accidentally accelerating into something ahead. Suppose you are stopped behind another car, waiting to merge onto a busy highway and looking for a space in traffic. With EyeSight in your Subaru, if you start to accelerate because you think the car ahead is already gone, the system can spot the danger and dramatically limit the throttle to reduce acceleration. At the same time, it lights up a warning on the dash and sounds an alarm to alert you to the vehicle ahead. EyeSight can significantly cut the throttle, which allows you, the driver, more time to see the problem and stop the vehicle.

 

 

Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive Cruise Control is there for those times when highway traffic does not flow smoothly. Like conventional cruise control, you activate the system and set the speed with the switch on the steering wheel switch. But since traffic rarely travels at a constant pace, EyeSight adjusts with the traffic. EyeSight will automatically maintain a set following distance, smoothly braking if traffic slows, and accelerating back up to the set speed when traffic clears again. There's little need to use the brake and gas - just let EyeSight do the work. Adaptive Cruise Control will even work in stop-and-go highway traffic. When the car ahead brakes - EyeSight does too right down to a standstill.

 

 

Lane Departure and Sway Warning with Lane Keep Assist

Lane Departure and Sway Warning alerts you if your Subaru starts to drift from your lane. As the car is in motion, EyeSight looks ahead, identifying lane markings on the road. If your car starts to leave the lane without signaling, beeps will sound and a warning will appear on the dash to alert you so you can correct your course. Drifting back and forth in a lane will also trigger the a Lane Sway warning.

 

Lane Keep Assist will step in to gently help steer the vehicle back into its lane. It will also sound a warning and flash a light in your side mirror when it senses your car moving outside of the white lines. EyeSight is not a substitute for safe driving, but will give you an extra level of awareness. When the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tested front crash prevention, Subaru models with EyeSight got the highest possible score. Subaru EyeSight is an extra set of eyes - every time you drive!

 

 

Blind-Spot Detection

Always looking to make vehicles even safer, Subaru developed Blind-Spot Detection to help watch over your should and warn you of potential danger. Available on most models, Blind-Spot Detection uses radar sensors in the rear bumper to monitor your blind spot area. When Blind-Spot Detection senses a vehicle is approaching or in your blind-spot, a warning light will appear in your side mirror to alert you.

 

Lane Change Assist

Lane Change Assist is another feature of this system that uses the warning light when a vehicle on the right or left approaches at a higher speed in the other lane. After the warning light displays, if you switch lanes, or signal to change lanes, and Lane Change Assist sense the approaching vehicle is still there, it gives you a flashing warning to draw attention to the other vehicle's presence.

 

 

Rear Cross-Traffic Alert

Parking lots can also be tricky - even for the best of us. That's why Subaru developed Rear Cross-Traffic Alert to help you in parking situations where your vision is blocked on the right or left and you can't see vehicle approaching. As you are backing out of a parking spot, keeping an eye out as you go, the radar sensors in the rear bumper of your Subaru are looking too. If the system detects traffic coming from either side as you as backing up, it will alert you with a flashing indicator and beeps, giving you time to stop and avoid danger. That extra awareness can really come in handy in situation like these.
