Subaru Loves to Help: Operation Warm Event at Trinity Place - Archie B.

Goldstein Subaru has proudly partnered with the Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region located at 15 Trinity Place Albany NY, a local support organization to help children & families in our community. Trinity Alliance is a major hub for coordinating and leveraging resources for residents in the most economically challenged neighborhoods. Some of the amazing services Trinity Alliance provides are: Active Parenting Workshop, Community Recovery, Empowerment Services, Early Childhood, Family Support, Foster Care Prevention Program, a Food Pantry for those in need that can choose from an assortment of food goods, and a community Baby shower for underserved parents who may not have the means to get all the necessities they need for their newborn’s arrival. They provide so much more and the list goes on. I was honored an invitation to go on tour with Goldstein Subaru’s owner Stefanie Goldstein to find out all of the amazing resources this place has to offer. Trinity Alliance has touched my heart in many ways. Goldstein Subaru through Subaru Loves to Help: Operation Warm has donated an astounding 288 new winter coats to Trinity Alliance in all variety of sizes for both boys and girls to relieve the expense for parents who may not have the means to buy one. While we were touring the facility the CEO of Trinity Alliance stated that all the materials for all of the programs they offer were taking up a ton of space, leaving no room or space for the employees to work out of. Stating their next project would be to look for storage space. Without hesitation Goldstein Subaru stepped up to the plate and offered to rent a storage space for Trinity Alliance, and that the expenses would be fully covered by Goldstein Subaru to relieve that burden so that way Trinity Alliance can continue their focus on more important things like the community. Seeing the empathy that the Goldstein Subaru Team has shown these people was very heartwarming and special to see. Thank you, Goldstein Subaru Team for always going above and beyond and never taking a step back from our community.

Schatzi-A Tale of Patience - Alison S.

When Schatzi came to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, it seemed as if the world was against him. Brought in by a Good Samaritan, Schatzi came in with another cat petrified and with a fresh wound on his neck. Schatzi did what he knew to do: he hid. To be extra cautious due to his neck wound, Schatzi was placed in a program that required extra monitoring and more restrictions to ensure he was healthy. He was placed in a room with another cat in the same program. These two cats bonded quickly. At first, they were both incredibly wary of all of the humans coming in and out. After about a month of regular interactions, Schatzi began to open up and actually began seeking out attention and affection from those coming into his room. Soon, he became the mayor of the cat floor. Everyone had to stop by and say hello! He even showed his roommate that humans weren't so scary. After a few months of being overlooked, the perfect family came in and scooped up this sweet boy. Goldstein Subaru has made this story possible. Without the support of Goldstein Subaru, MHHS would not have the time or ability to help these animals. With the support of Goldstein Subaru through myriad programs and most importantly Share the Love, MHHS knows that it has a reliable partner in the community multiplying its voice and message. MHHS is forever grateful for the partnership it has with Goldstein Subaru.

Schatzi Finds His Forever Home - Marguerite P.

Schatzi was a handsome 5-year-old tiger cat who came to us in March of 2023 with a large, ruptured abscess on his neck and two puncture wounds. Our vet team cleaned the wound and treated it with antibiotics and watched is closely until it was healed. Because Schatzi had lived with other cats and was an indoor/outdoor cat, we couldn’t be certain of what type of animal had bitten him. Therefore we had to follow some special rules, which included quarantine from other animals. He was made available for a foster-to-adopt trial, where the adopter would foster him until his quarantine period ended. When his foster-to-adopt family met him, Schatzi immediately warmed up to them. They took him home and made their adoption official in October at a Goldstein Subaru Adoption Event. Schatzi also has a new canine brother and are all very happy together.

Chili's Tale of Hope - Marguerite P.

Chili was a 7-year-old pup who came to us in March of 2023. She was suffering from a long-standing pyometra, a serious infection in the uterus. She was very ill. Untreated, this condition is life-threatening. Our vet team immediately spayed her and removed her uterus. Initially, her bloodwork was very abnormal due to the sepsis caused by the infection. Because she wasn’t feeling good when she arrived, she was nervous and a bit “spicy,” which is why we named her Chili. As she started feeling better, she began to trust our staff. With time and patience, she came to have many friends at the shelter. Our Behavior and Enrichment Team learned that Chili loved playing with puzzle toys and any food-related toy that would work her brain. They also worked with her on sharing her toys and food without becoming reactive. This is common with shelter dogs and our adoption counselors made sure to explain this behavior to potential adopters. In October, after 7 months in our care, Chili found her forever home at one of our Goldstein Subaru Adoption Events. She went home with someone who understood her background and her behavioral needs. Her new family reports that she is doing wonderfully!

Pet Safety & Care - Samatha P.

I have been a customer of Goldstein for many years and will continue. They don't only take care of their customers they care about the well being of pets. Most recently I visited to drop off food for their pet pantry and noticed they have a great pet display in one of their cars. I learned that Subaru offers safety harnesses and ramps for pets. I have followed the Goldstein Subaru journey donating and volunteering at the Mohawk Humane Society, without all that Goldstein Subaru does I'm not sure all the pets would be able to be nursed back to health and find their forever home. Goldstein Subaru also has a year long bottle redemption program where the proceeds also go to the shelter. What a great thing to do for the community. I'd like to add that through the pandemic many pets were surrendered to the shelter, Goldstein made sure they continued their support through it all. Please take time to visit Goldstein for your car needs and remember to bring pet supplies when you do for the Pet Pantry! Love Goldstein Subaru!

Subaru Loves All Pets - Alison S.

Sweet Asha came to the shelter in a very bad way. She was 10-weeks-old and had already survived a vicious beating from a child and we weren't sure she would make it. Asha was determined to prove us all wrong. She never once considered giving up. She was all puppy energy and positivity from the moment she realized she was safe. After some time healing and growing in a foster home, Asha was adopted within a day of becoming available. This sweet girl lives up to her name every day. Asha means "alive and well." She was determined to prove her name right and her abuser wrong. Asha now gets to spend every day getting spoiled with her new parents and canine sibling. Subaru Loves Pets helps support the care and adoption of dogs like Asha, and for that, Mohawk Hudson Humane Society is so grateful.

Every (Sun)Flower Has Its Day - Alison S.

Sunflower came to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society as a stray in August 2021. From the moment she walked in the doors, it was clear she needed a lot of attention. Sunflower is a senior, at over 10 years old. After being seen by the veterinarian, Sunflower was diagnosed with a heart murmur, luxating patellas (moving kneecaps), dental disease, had an underlying endocrine disorder, and was not fit enough to be put under anesthesia for a spay. While Sunflower had all of these medical needs, it was clear shew as still a happy girl. Knowing that adopting a dog with this many medical issues can be difficult and she may not have a lot of time left, Sunflower was placed in the CrossRoads program, a hospice adoption program at MHHS. This program allows animals that may be towards the end of their lives to know love, safety, and comfort for however long they have left. It takes very special people to adopt an animal in the CrossRoads program, but they are often some of the best. Sunflower first went to a foster home, and then was adopted by her foster family. Support from Goldstein Subaru allows these programs to thrive. Goldstein supports MHHS monetarily, with regular supply drives, and as a base for bottle and can donations. The relationship with Goldstein Auto Group is one that MHHS holds close to its heart, and feels so lucky to be Goldstein's hometown charity.

Exceptional Service Even When Service is Closed - Jackie G.

About 10 miles into my drive across Upstate NY last weekend (Sunday, 1/31/21), the low tire pressure light came on. I was concerned and stopped at two different rest stops to check my tires. They looked OK to me but each time I wanted to add air so that the light would go off, and each time I could not remove the covers from any of the air valves on the tires. Not only was it very cold outside, this was the first time I had tried to put air in my tires. You see I bought my brand new Subaru Outback in March 2020 and because of the pandemic have not driven it much. I continued my drive but was still uneasy because of the warning light. I wasn't sure what to do, and then I remembered great service I have received from various Subaru dealers over the years (I bought my first Subaru in 2012). So I looked for a dealer that was open Sunday as I drove east across the state and that brought me to Goldstein Subaru. Service was closed but Sales was open. While everyone welcoming and nice, I would like to especially acknowledge Aaron Butler. Not only did Mr. Butler loosen the covers on each tire valve for me, he showed me how to use the buttons on the steering wheel to decipher the warning signals and to see which tires needed air. He also explained that there was one person working in Service and that he would take care of my tires, and it would only take a few minutes. While I waited, Mr. Butler answered my questions about servicing a new car that hasn't been driven much from oil changes to updating the software. Soon my car was ready, tires filled and I was on my way. Subaru makes a great car, but the kindness and help from people like Mr. Butler will keep me a customer for life. Sincerely, Jackie George

Goldstein and MHHS Partnership - Alison S.

2020 is a year that no one could have anticipated. On top of COVID-19 upending all programs and services offered at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (MHHS), it also completely changed the lives of those reliant and seeking out the services and offered. After six weeks of shutdown, MHHS was slowly able to re-open all public-facing programs. The world MHHS re-opened to was very different than the one in which it had closed. More people were home and looking to adopt animals, and more people were hurting and needing help and assistance for pet food and pet health. The close relationship between Goldstein Subaru and MHHS has allowed MHHS meet both of these demands from the community. Goldstein Subaru has long been a supporter and sponsor of the Furry Friends Pet Food Pantry, and that has only increased in recent months. Despite the Goldstein Subaru show room not being open to the public, MHHS and Goldstein worked together to create successful adoption campaigns. Events have been switched back to MHHS, which gave more animals adoption potential, on top of supporting Goldstein Subaru as a strong community partner. Goldstein Subaru has been an incredible partner to MHHS since before COVID-19, and we know that the relationship will continue to grow. Goldstein has stood with MHHS through the unknown of 2020, and every being at MHHS is grateful.

Happy New Beginnings - Alison S.

On December 18, 2018, Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (MHHS) was called to assist police at a potential hoarding situation in Troy, NY. Nearly 100 animals were rescued from a condemned home where a couple was hoarding, breeding, and selling them. As some of the first responders to this case, MHHS took on the majority of initial and subsequent care for these neglected animals. Many of these animals had never been handled by humans and were severely in need of veterinary care. Without the support of Goldstein Subaru and Subaru Share the Love, these animals would not have been able to receive the care they needed and deserved. It was essential that each animal be thoroughly checked by veterinary staff who then diagnosed them with any number of potentially expensive medical issues. One such animal is Larry the cat. Larry was five months old when he was found in a crate barely big enough for him to stand up or move around. When he arrived at MHHS, his eye was so badly infected that vet staff had no choice but to remove it. Like many other animals, in this case, he also suffered from severe dental issues. Larry has since been adopted, and now goes by the name Happy. He is living up to his new name, having adjusted to living with one eye and seeking out affection from his new family. Goldstein Subaru and Subaru Share the Love has made it possible for these animals to thrive and have happy new beginnings. The support and veterinary care did not end when these animals were adopted. Many needed additional services, for which MHHS was able to offer monetary assistance to adopters. While this type of care is extended to every animal in MHHS custody, the rapid influx of animals put a strain on the shelter. As of April 2019, all of the animals, in this case, have been adopted. With the support of Goldstein Subaru and Subaru Share the Love, MHHS was able to accept these animals with open arms. Your generosity allowed our staff to go above and beyond with extraordinary care for animals greatly in need. Thank you for all that you do for MHHS, and for being a proud partner in this work. The attached photo collage contains pets from this case that are having happy new beginnings.

Keeping Children Warm - Lidia S.

Goldstein Subaru donated jackets to the children at our local church. It was such a warm act of kindness. Many families in the community are unable to buy new clothes for the little ones. The faces on the children when they opened them were priceless. Many thanks to Goldstein Subaru.
